Click here to view a powerpoint that outlines some of the world's most interesting inventions. How many inventions are you able to guess correctly? Note: To access this powerpoint slide you will need to click on the 'view presentation in a new window' option that is underneath the slide...
9SO SS: Changing Work Activity
In class we have done a matching actvity that shows how work has changed from the Agricultural Age to the Industrial Revolution.
Instructions: You need to draw a chart - one side has the heading 'Agricultural Age' and the other side has the heading 'Industrial Revolution'. Cut out the squares and decide which column they belong to. Click here for the matching activity, and click here for the answers once you have completed the activity.

9SO SS: Industrial Revolution
Here is some information about the Industrial Revolution (1800s to 1950s). A reminder that the definition is: a period in which manufacturing industries grew and modernised the production of resources.
For those of you at home sick here is what we are doing in class:
Copy into your books under the heading Industrial Revolution:
"In the 1700s about 90% of people in England worked on the land. But over the next 150 years there were many changes. The main thing that changed the way people worked and lived was inventions. Inventions also made it possible for factories to be establisehd where more goods could be produced.
Factory conditions: Conditions in factories were often very bad and children, women and men often worked 10-12 hours a day with little food or rest, and low wages. The jobs that they did were often repetitive and dangerous."
